Racho Margot, Costa Rica
SEEDS Extented Community Gathering

The Gathering happened from Jan 19th to the 30th

“The end of the road” led to this location, close to the Arenal Volcano, lake and rainforest but contradictory to the location it is also the beginning of a transformative exploration in Rancho Margot, Costa Rica.  Members from the SEEDS commUNITY have been spending energy in the bioregional aspects of the SEEDS Collaboratory DAO.  The project can provide the first creation of a blueprint DAO at a local scale.  The gathering is providing information to implement the tools of the DAO and how to interact with the operations of a farm, the nearby communities around, and especially hybrid tokenomics.

Rancho Margot is a place to take a rejuvenating break, International schools research programs, and investigation of the biodiversity in Costa Rica.  All these efforts and cutting edge thinking have finally taken shape to create a DAO design that works for the amazing staff and commUNITY members to steward the land of about 400 ha.

The tokenomics model will be one of a kind to respect the incredible asset the place has to offer and how will interact in the coming years creating a legacy established by Juan Sostheim. There will be great findings to share with the ecosystem to co-create with other projects.

GET TO KNOW ONE MORE REGEN CIVICS ALLIANCE PROJECT

Liminal Village

Liminal Village is one more amazing project out of the cohort of thirteen projects integrating REGEN CIVICS Alliance, Season 1. They are a co-living and co-creation hub in the center of Italy. They have been experimenting with creating temporary communities aimed at creating value for the world, healing themselves, and healing the collective, by emphasizing the balance of personal, local, and global needs. Inspired by the concept of a Resource-Based Economy, Liminal, meaning “a place of transition” or “a place that occupies both sides”, is an embodied experimental ground where value-aligned people can co-create and experience the future they would like to see.

Using natural cycles to guide progress, they focus on reinventing how to live in harmony with each other and the planet, by “upgrading the operating system of society” and transitioning from scarcity-based market economies to access abundance. Together with other eco-initiatives around the village and around the globe, we are kickstarting a regenerative network of interdependent communities.

Take a look at Liminal Village's Regenerative Hubs Network 2030 Vision.

SEEDS DAOs as part of
The Flow DAO Activation

The Hypha GoToMarket Team has established a Customer Success team with the purpose to ensure the successful activation and onboarding of Hypha's customers to their DAO. As part of Hypha's legacy, they offer free use of their tool kit to SEEDS DAOs. This is a great opportunity for active SEEDS DHO's to embark on The Flow DAO Activation.

Important to highlight that The Flow is offered only for SEEDS Active DAOs/DHOs, because apart from giving support on the onboarding phase, it is designed to get feedback from users in order to fix bugs in the Alpha phase and improve the customer experience.

The process consists of a series of seven weekly live video calls to gather and share where proponent DAOs are at, answer questions, and inspire each other on how it is set up, activate, and onboard the individual DAOs together. The first cohort started on Jan 16th and it goes until Feb 27th. If your DHO/DAO is interested to join the next cohort, go to Hypha Community Discord Channel and ask to join it.

Leveraging Efforts and Purpose

SEEDS Commons and Wishing Well

The Wishing Well call is the longest-running continuous weekly call in the wider SEEDS ecosystem. It started in 2019 as the SWEET team call which was made up of the early founders and supporters for creating an Earth-friendly cryptocurrency called Seeds. These core earthpreneurs supported the growing community to stay connected and co-creating. Its name changed over time ... it started as a strategic sensing body for the entire SEEDS community, moderated by Rieki Cordon. After a year it was called the SEEDS Strategic Sensing Circle, moderated by Stephen Gomes. After a year and a half, Terry Mollner became the moderator and suggested it to be called The Wishing Well and continue its role as the strategic sensing forum for the SEEDS community.

On the other hand, SEEDS Commons was created by referendum in Oct 2021 as the organization that connects SEEDS Global DHOs with the purpose of stewarding the health of the Ecosystem.

Now, with the rise of SEEDS Collaboratory DAO,  SEEDS Commons and the Wishing Well become one cohesive group through this important transition time, meeting every Thursday and everyone is invited to join...

People

We want to spotlight Regenerative Leaders from the SEEDS ecosystem, that are doing admirable work locally, building community, spreading knowledge and engaging with like-minded people to create real impact.
This month, you will know more about Liz Grieco
We interviewed Liz during the Gathering at Rancho Margot, Costa Rica.
Liz Grieco
A native of New York, Liz changed the course of her life and moved to Costa Rica. She began a long-term collaboration with Juan Sostheim, the founder of Rancho Margot. An international-acclaimed self-sustaining eco-lodge and educational center near el Castillo, CR. In helping build the foundation of this remote, off-grid utopia, Liz has played an integral role in its operations, business development, volunteering, and guest relations.
In addition to her environmental advocacy efforts on behalf of Rancho Margot, she worked with La Reserva Forest Foundation in Tilaran, CR.
Her experience as a general counsel and Director of Latin America Operations for Texas-based Global Climate Strategies, enabled her to open the firm’s Central
America Office in Costa Rica.
Rancho Margot
An off-grid Ranch, located in el Castillo, and in close proximity to the Arenal lake and volcano. This eco-lodge has been running for 20 years and the incredible work shows in the way the ranch is run. It has beautiful bungalows surrounded by nature, a meal buffet from their organic farm, a guided ranch tour, yoga classes, natural pools, a fishing pond, and other activities near the area. It has been featured in many media outlets for the incredible knowledge collected here but also a lover’s connection spot as many regenerative volunteers and staff members have fallen in love while contributing at Rancho Margot. The four hundred acres of Organic Biodiversity bliss creates the perfect environment to do research, metrics of the forest, and animals that make this beautiful ranch a SEED that has grown fully.

Inspiration & Awareness

Here are a few seeds we selected to nourish you with some inspiration, knowledge, and awareness.

The Art of Loving

by Erich Fromm
Most of us are unable to develop our capacities for love on the only level that really counts—a love that is compounded of maturity, self-knowledge, and courage. Learning to love, like other arts, demands practice and concentration. Even more than any other art it demands genuine insight and understanding.

"What is Regeneration?" - a five minute film from Damon Gameau, Nick Maher and the "2040" team, a rousing call to action to join a global movement of Regenerators who are working to heal our ecosystems. It  features climate action leaders like Jeff Bridges, Paul Hawken, Christiana Figueres, Kate Raworth, Damon Gameau, Juma Xipaia, and other Regenerators from around the world.
